How does the DR RapidFire hold up over time?
The DR RapidFire Flywheel Log Splitter is designed for simplicity, strength, and speed. Like all DR equipment, it’s also designed for durability.
With no hydraulic pumps, valves, or oil, flywheel log splitters are virtually maintenance-free (except routine tune-ups, as with any machine with a combustion engine) and shouldn’t need any parts replaced. The flywheels are cast iron and as heavy as 75 lbs each, and the pinion gear is 5 lbs. of industrial steel. Try breaking those!
This pinion gear, for example, was used on one of our early test models and has split over 500 cords of wood. It barely shows any signs of wear!
We can unequivocally say that the DR RapidFire Flywheel Log Splitter is at least as durable as a hydraulic log splitter – if not more durable because of its maintenance-free design.
So if you’re wondering if a DR RapidFire Flywheel Log Splitter will stand the test of time, the answer is yes. You’ll still be splitting cord after cord at 6X faster than hydraulics years and years down the line!
